That was super nice of them.
And now I’m mad that nobody told us we were given cows. Cause that’s really f*cking nice and nobody mentioned it at all.

American media tends to disregard that anyone donates to the US. And then Amurricans complain about money going abroad because “nobody helped the US in our disasters.”
>.>
Also, do you know how much a cow costs? O.O

It isn’t just a matter of how much a cow costs, its a matter of considering that Masai life is based around their cattle. Its their wealth, their food, and a significant part of their religion. Here’s a quote from Wikipedia:
“Traditional Maasai lifestyle centres around their cattle which constitute their primary source of food. The measure of a man’s wealth is in terms of cattle and children. A herd of 50 cattle is respectable, and the more children the better. A man who has plenty of one but not the other is considered to be poor.[37] A Maasai religious belief relates that God gave them all the cattle on earth, leading to the belief that rustling cattle from other tribes is a matter of taking back what is rightfully theirs, a practice that has become much less common.[38]”
So its not just “they gave us 14 cows”, its that they gave us something that is very important and significant to them, it is more than just a kind gesture that definitely deserves to be known and its a genuine shame that more people don’t know about it.

Your brain is such a worthless slacker. I’ll prove it.
Relax and stare at this image for a while. After said while (thirty seconds…ish), the colours will begin to disappear (no it’s not a gif). You can even make them go away completely.
What’s happening is called Troxler’s Fading. After a while of receiving the same non-changing information, your brain gets bored and just discards the information because it’s too busy keeping an eye out for more pressing, changing information, like tiger attacks.
You know how when you wear a watch for a while you stop noticing it. Same thing. Your brain is an idiot.
It is pretty though.

oh my god!  O_O

Holy shit. For me it only took like five seconds. That is terrifying.

Assassin's Creed Unity: *no playable female Assassins*
Male gamers: This is just fine, so shut up! What's important isn't the character's gender, it's the story they are in! Who cares about the characters' genders? Stop trying to ruin other people's fun!
Hyrule Warriors: *10 playable characters, 8 of them are women*
Male gamers: WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!?! There are too many girls in this game! What about us, the male fans? Why the female fans have more options? Women aren't interesting, if you don't include more men in the game then the story will become boring!

Poor people stay poor because they do arts degrees.

Sophomore Engineering Student (via shitrichcollegekidssay)

Poor people stay poor because other artists have allowed the industry to degrade to a level that people drastically undervalue art. In graphic arts, an independent artist typically makes below minimum wage. So many people take advantage of starting out and struggling artists, that they offer “exposure” as compensation. Or a hideously low rate. I have had people offer to pay me just $5/page for color work. And they saw nothing wrong with this offer. This is for something that I typically spend 4-6 hours per page on. And there are artists out there so desperate for ANY money, they will accept those offers. And thus perpetuate the idea that this is okay.

No, poor people aren’t poor because they take art degrees. They’re poor because there are entitled assholes who take advantage of them so they can turn a bigger profit.

Art is everywhere. Try to imagine a world without it. Without graphics. Without font design. Without logos. Everything done in the same, bland typefaces, with no images and no sense of color. Artists are more than people who sit and make pretty pictures. They are what gives companies an image, an identity. So why are they treated like the lowest possible rank?

Thank you. I am so sick of people trying to take advantage of me as an artist and use manipulative bullshit to get rates they want. Two rules to live by, fellow artists: 1) Never accept a job that involves the client getting your hard work and you getting only ‘exposure’. (I learned this the hard way. Seems to be a rite of passage for many, if not all artists.) Accept only cash as payment, according to your rates. Which leads to… 2) Never accept a job in which the client doesn’t bother to ask you for your rates and pushes their own amount of payment onto you. When they do this, they don’t respect you, and they sure as hell won’t think twice about milking you for everything you’ve got should you accept such a deal.

Just as natural as it is to wear synthetic fur! Nope, no harm done there, a factory is MUCH more environmentally friendly then a natural alternative LOL!!

As someone who works with both synthetic and natural fibers every day as part of her job?

Take the real thing.

No seriously. Take the real thing.

Your dyed fake fur? The dyes that adhere it to the acrylic and all? Really nasty. It’s also cooked to a degree, which lets of toxic fumes, the dyes can be all manner of things, some are carcinogenic, others toxic, and imagine what they do with the vats of dye? What happens if that toxic sludge gets dumped in the environment? It gets into the water table, food sources, and all…

I’m not even going into the fabrication of synthetic fibers… Because.. That would be a long post of death.
